Medical Disclaimer

Last updated: 15 January 2026

This page sets out important limits on the medical information provided through this site and by the Clinic. Please read it carefully.

1. Nature of the information

Everything published on this site — service descriptions, wellness articles, dietary suggestions and FAQs — is general health education.

It cannot replace a diagnosis, recommendation or treatment given for your individual situation by a registered Chinese medicine practitioner or a registered medical practitioner.

2. No guarantee of outcome

Chinese medicine treats according to pattern differentiation. The same treatment can produce different results in people of different constitutions.

The Clinic does not and cannot guarantee the outcome of any treatment. The expected number of sessions and how progress will be judged are explained by your practitioner at consultation, case by case.

In line with the Chinese Medicine Ordinance and the applicable professional codes, the Clinic makes no claim of efficacy for any disease and no comparative claim against other forms of care.

3. Not for emergencies

The Clinic does not provide emergency care.

For chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe headache, altered consciousness, persistent high fever, serious bleeding from injury, suspected stroke or any other emergency, call 999 immediately or go to the nearest hospital Accident & Emergency department.

4. Alongside western medical care

If you are under western medical treatment or taking prescribed medication, tell your Chinese medicine practitioner at consultation.

Never stop or change prescribed medication on your own because you are receiving Chinese medicine treatment. Any adjustment must be discussed with the doctor who prescribed it.

Where your situation calls for western medical investigation or treatment, we will say so plainly and recommend a referral.

5. Food therapy and herbs

The soups and dietary suggestions on this site are everyday care, not treatment plans.

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, children, older adults and people with chronic conditions should consult a registered practitioner before using any Chinese herbs.

Some herbs interact with pharmaceutical medication. Please do not combine them on your own initiative.

Chinese Traditional Medicines Hospital operates as a Chinese medicine clinic under the Chinese Medicine Ordinance (Cap. 549) of the laws of Hong Kong. All practitioners are registered with the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong; their registration numbers are published on each practitioner profile and may be verified on the Council's register.
